Week 5

Week 5

It's sort of been a crazy week, so I haven't been able to blog like I wanted to. Hopefully things slow down soon and we can get back to "normal"!

What am I cooking?  Last weekend was Elise's birthday party, and while it goes more into the "decorating" category than cooking, I am super proud of her birthday cake! It was so easy too, she might be getting the same cake in different variations until she is old enough to ask me to stop.
What are we making? Knitting, knitting, and more knitting. I really have the itch to do some crafty things for the house, but I HAVE to finish up a few things I am knitting first.

What am I knitting? Still working on that gown. I will finish this weekend if it kills me.

Something that has been a challenge this week?Hmm, I feel like the whole week has been a challenge. Really, I'm not trying to constantly complain like things are horrible. They are really really good, but definitely challenging.

As far as material things go, there was a water line break across the street this week, so no water for about 14 hours and then a boil alert for the next 48. It wasn't *that* big of a deal, but it did just make things more difficult.

And then mentally/spiritually I've felt under a lot of attack. Not me personally, but my beliefs and things I care deeply about. Between the HHS mandate and the Susan G. Koman/Planned Parenthood stuff, I was ready to go on a media strike for a while just to keep my sanity. It sort of feels like someone is picking on my mom, and it hurts that some people would knowingly attack something so dear to my (and I am sure many others) hearts and beliefs. It's been a week of heartache, and sadly, I think there is much much more to come.

What are my prayers/intentions for the week? For the US Bishops, for my brother in law Luke leaving for the Coast Guard in about a week and a half, and for a dear friend of mine who is in the hospital.

What have I done for my marriage this week? I am working on getting Elise to bed at a reasonable time! It might not seem related to Anthony at all, but the long term goal is to be able to spend more time together in the evenings without our favorite little snuggle bug.

What am I reading? I just started "Love You More" not sure how I feel about it yet.

Weekend plans? We're having some siblings over for the Super Bowl tomorrow which should be lots of fun!
What can my children do instead of TV? Oh lots of things since they had their tv privileges revoked for the next week! Earlier in the week the boys were gathering blankets from all over the house for what they told me was a fort. About 20 minutes later I heard a thud from the playroom, only to find their tv face down in the pile of blankets.

Luckily the tv was fine, but they are not allowed to watch any tv or have any computer time for a week or maybe longer.

They've been building forts, reading lots of books, playing with blocks, running around the house like crazy people to get my attention. It's keeping me on my toes and taking some adjusting to now that I don't get down time to cook dinner, but I think in the end it's really good for them to be doing other things.

Highlights of the week?  Elise's birthday party! We had so much fun, and she loved getting tons of new clothes and her baby and baby carriage.
What is Nathan doing? Being very tricky, this kid is going to keep me on my toes for the next 16 years. But then he does really sweet things like clean the entire living room and playroom without me asking. He is just so so smart!

What is Noah doing? In normal Noah style, still getting into everything. Anthony caught him at 6 o'clock this morning with a handful of cake he had to climb up a shelf to get.

What is Elise doing? Still trying not to walk. She took one step this week and then promptly sat down when she saw Noah running towards her. Today she has been giving tons and tons of kisses, to Anthony and I, to the boys, and to her baby doll. So cute! Sleeping a bit better, we actually had a 4 hour stretch in the playpen this week! And nearly 2 hours at a time the other nights. I'm sure she would do better too if I were more committed to it, but we both pass out for the rest of the night as soon as I bring her into bed, and then I just sort of forget to put her back in her own. oops!

The cake!
